An inclusive new economic system is evolving, pioneered by communities and entrepreneurs, and supported by forward thinking investors and industry around Australia.
The movement towards a regenerative society is gaining momentum and offers a future that builds economic, environmental and social resilience. However, strategic intervention is needed to ensure it succeeds.
WWF undertook a listening exercise with communities around Australia and uncovered three key barriers to the shift to a regenerative economy.
- Investment: There is not enough finance or institutional support flowing at the required volume into place-based, small to medium size regenerative enterprise, especially early stage enterprise.
- Pipeline: A lack of visibility over viable and valuable regenerative enterprise created a pipeline gap for institutional support and finance
- Capacity gap: Communities hold a wealth of ideas, knowledge and networks to bring regenerative enterprise to life, but are missing targeted capability support and funding to achieve this.
WWF-Australia has helped catalyse and accelerate this transition through the Innovate to Regenerate program, partnering with Regen Studios, an award-winning production company and guided by First Nations Traditional Knowledge and leadership principles throughout.
We have worked hand-in-hand with pioneering communities and partners across industry, government, and finance to test and validate solutions to these barriers and support experimentation-at-scale to accelerate the transition to a regenerative society.
